Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Shanhujing in Subei country, Gansu. It was named by compilation group of regional stratigraphic table of Gansu province in 1980.

Synonym: Coral Well Gr. It has also been named as Erduanjing Group by Gansu District Test Team 2 in 1965.


Lithology and Thickness

The Shanhujing Gr, 752 m thick, is mainly composed of gray, grayish-green pebbly sandstone, greywacke, arkose and calcareous shale.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The Shanhujing Gr is conformable in contact to the underlying Erduanjing Gr with a bed of grayish-green coarse pebbly sandstone.

Upper contact

It is cut off at the top. Next higher unit is uncertain. Regionally, it might be the Boluo Gr of Middle Jurassic?.

Regional extent

The formation is restrictively distributed in eastern Gelujing to Erduanjing in Subei Country.

Fossils

It yields plant fossils including Bernoullia? zeilleri, Cladophlebis kaoiana, C. raciborskii.
